Campus Safety Reminder - Cell Phone Use

Dear Mayfair Families,
We want to take a moment to address a significant safety concern. Recently, we have seen an increase in students recording and instigating fights on campus. These actions create a serious safety hazard and disrupt the learning environment for all students.

Please be advised that under California Education Code §48900(k), students may be subject to disciplinary action for willfully disrupting school activities or defying the authority of school personnel. Additionally, under §48900(q), using or possessing an electronic device to record or promote a fight without permission also qualifies as a disruptive act subject to school discipline.

Students who record, encourage, or promote altercations will face disciplinary consequences similar to those who actively participate in fights. These behaviors do not align with Mayfair’s values of respect, responsibility, and safety.

We ask for your partnership in reinforcing with your student the importance of making positive choices, avoiding situations that could escalate, and reporting safety concerns to staff. Together, we can maintain a safe and supportive environment for all our students.
